Let this post serve as a warning, scout your location well before you or your subject enter the area. I didn’t and now we all have Poison Oak, and it itches like crazy!
Now, onto the shot. I didn’t request this surprised look, however it’s the only shot out of about 100 where they are both looking at the camera at the same time. If you’ve ever tried to shoot a 2 year old you’ll understand my frustration! A large part of taking portrait photographs is your relationship with the model and your directing skills, two year olds just don’t listen…..
Lighting Info:
Canon 580 EX II at 1/4 power, zoom at 35mm, 1/4 CTO gel, in 28″ Westcott Apollo softbox, about 75 degrees to camera left.
Are you happy with the Apollo softbox? I’m in the market for for something like that and am always looking for satisfied users.

Hi Jake
Yes, I really like it. I think it’s much easier to get the light I want from it compared to the umbrellas. It’s a bit of a pain to set up the first few times but after a few uses it becomes pretty easy. There is a 50″ version too but I’m just using a 580 EX inside it so I stuck with the smaller 28″ one.
